Website Transcreation FAQ

We use WordPress because it is the most widely-used CMS and is easy to use. We use templates that are not incompatible with China.

We will create the website based on the design of your English website. The layout of webpages may be different to improve performance with Chinese users. The content on the website is where there will be the most difference. We ‘transcreate’ content, which means we do some translation, but take liberties to improve it for the Chinese market.

You usually won’t need a new domain. However, it may be a good choice. This is tough to answer in an FAQ because there are trade-offs for your users, server, SEO, and website construction/maintenance. Most of our small-business clients use a Chinese-language website on a separate domain. Most of our clients that maintain a complicated website with many products and/or features that require logging in to the website will keep all languages on one domain.

A twenty-page website will take about six weeks (including some back-and-forth communication with you).

Baidu is not as kind to small websites as Google is, so indexation can take a while.

Baidu does not often index English-only websites and technical issues can cause indexation problems.

We monitor to ensure the website is accessible, loading quickly, and doesn’t have major errors preventing indexation.
