We created a series of AI-generated spokesperson videos for our client SmarAct and published them on Bilibili. These videos use AI-generated presenters to speak on camera, explain concepts, or demonstrate ideas, rather than relying on a real spokesperson.
Recently, we promoted selected videos from this series on Bilibili.
What did we do?
The client wanted to explore more advertising channels in China, so we compared the audience profiles and user distribution of WeChat Channels and Bilibili. Based on this comparison, we found that Bilibili’s audience was a better fit for the brand’s target users, so we recommended advertising on the platform.
The client provided basic product information, and we planned, generated, and edited the videos ourselves.
We also added links in the comment section to guide users to the client’s website for inquiries, or to Baidu Qiaocang, an AI customer service and lead-collection tool.
What Can We Learn From This Video?
An AI-generated spokesperson can lower production costs and make video output more scalable
Many companies want to create more video content, but do not have a suitable person to appear on camera. An AI-generated spokesperson solves this problem and any issues with the editing and “reshooting” of content.
If a video needs to be updated, there is no need to rebook the influencer or actor to re-film the scene. We can simply adjust the script and voiceover, then quickly generate a revised version.
This improves production efficiency while keeping the presenter’s image and speaking style consistent, making brand video content more standardized and easier to scale.
Different types of video content require different advertising platforms
Technology, science, and knowledge-sharing are among Bilibili’s core content categories. The platform’s audience is generally young, receptive to emerging technology topics, and willing to participate in technical discussions.
The video topics we created for SmarAct also matched Bilibili’s positioning as a knowledge-sharing platform. By selecting science and education-related tags when publishing the videos, we used Bilibili’s tag-based discovery system to reach a more relevant audience.
Bilibili advertising offers strong flexibility
Compared with many other advertising platforms we regularly work with, Bilibili offers more flexible ad formats and traffic conversion options.
For example, we can place redirect links directly in the comment section of promoted videos. These links can lead to Baidu Qiaocang, Baidu landing pages, the brand’s official website, or other destinations.
Since most major Chinese advertising platforms place strict limits on cross-platform external links, this is one of Bilibili’s major advertising advantages.
For highly technical topics, shorter videos and timely local angles can improve engagement
When a client’s product is highly specialized, the priority is to simplify the topic and explain it in a more accessible way, so viewers can quickly understand the product’s use case and core value. For this reason, we kept the videos to around one-and-a-half minutes.
We also added clear visual diagrams to break down technical principles and help viewers understand the key ideas.
For example, we used brain-computer interfaces (a topic receiving a lot of attention in China recently) as a creative entry point. By connecting SmarAct’s technology to a timely industry topic, we made the content easier to understand, more attention-grabbing, and more likely to generate engagement.
